When John Montgomery, founder and owner of Steelbuilt Corp. decided to
leave his role at an American steel company to start a truly Canadian
steel structure company, he partnered with CMB because he knew they were
the premier Canadian company to work with.
Since then, Steelbuilt Corp. (named the 2024 CMB Builder of the Year)
and CMB have partnered up on 80 different projects to help Canadians
avoid tariffs while also helping the Canadian steel industry.
”The best way to avoid paying tariffs is to buy Canadian,” says
Montgomery. “However, consumers need to be cautious as a lot of U.S.
steel building companies have offices in Canada. They might seem like
they’re Canadian, but in fact, they are American companies that will
pass on the tariffs to the consumer.”

by the tariffs and helps support the Canadian steel industry.
